The Capitol Civic Centre is conveniently located in beautiful downtown Manitowoc, and surrounded by a number of other attractions like Museums, parks, restaurants and specialty shops - so why not come spend a wonderful day checking out the town, and make us the perfect end to your day? If you came across the lake on the carferry, all you need to do is turn right on 8th Street and head downtown - we’re not more than 1/2 mile away and an easy walk or bike ride if you’re not driving!
If you’re heading down from Door County, merely take Hwy 42 South to Manitowoc. You can either follow Maritime Drive right along the lake until you get downtown - we’re right across the river from the Maritime Museum, or you can go just a couple miles further after the road turns away from the lake until you get to the second stop light and turn left - following the one-way street (Hwy 10) towards the carferry dock until you get downtown - just turn left at the stop light as soon as you cross the river (Franklin St.) and you’ll run right into us.
Those of you coming from the North - Green Bay and beyond, will find easy access by taking I-43 South to Exit 152 - otherwise known as Hwy 42 North or Waldo Blvd. After taking the exit, just turn left and head towards the lake until you get to the 3rd stop light, and, as above, follow the one-way Hwy 10 towards the carferry dock until you get downtown. Again, turn left at the stop light right after you cross the river (Franklin St.) and in two blocks you will run right into us.
Those venturing over from Appleton and points West will find it best to take Hwy 10 to I-43 South, hop on I-43 South and take the very next exit - Exit 152 - and follow the same instructions from there as above.
Not forgetting the rest of Western Wisconsin, if you are coming over from the Fond du Lac area and points West take Hwy 23 to I-43 North at Sheboygan, and head North about 22 Miles to Exit 149, AKA Hwy 151, or, as some of us locals refer to it, the “Holiday Inn” exit. Turn right after you take the exit and head towards the lake and downtown. The road takes on a few names besides Hwy 151 as you drive along, namely Calumet Avenue and Washington Street, but just stay on there a good 5 miles or so, past all of your favorite fast food joints, shopping centers and gas stations - just keep right on going until you see the big ol’ Budweiser bottles at the bottom of the hill and you’ve found us! When you get to the stop light at the one-way street to the left (8th Street) right before you are going to hit the beer bottles, just take a left and you’ll be driving right past us in less than 2 blocks! Nothing against the fast-food and other restaurants you’ll find along the way, but don’t be too hasty to find a place to eat or you’ll miss some of the excellent opportunities we have within walking distance of the Capitol.
For those fine folks coming up from Southern Wisconsin, Illinois and points further away, just hop on I-43 North towards Green Bay from Milwaukee and head north about 80 miles to the same exit 149 listed above. Once you take off the exit by the Holiday Inn you can follow the simple directions listed above. While you are there, why not plan to make a night of it and make your hotel reservations. You will find a number of quality hotels right when you get off the interstate, or you can drive downtown first and choose from a couple of fine establishments that will put us within an easy walking distance of your room!
Wherever you come from, we are easy to find - just head for historic downtown Manitowoc and you can’t miss us - if you get lost just drive around until you see the Budweiser bottles - we are less than a block from them and you will be able to see the building from there. If you do happen to visit any of our fine local merchants, tell them the Capitol’s website suggested that you check them out, and maybe they’ll just give you some advice on which seats are the best or keep you up to date on some of the exciting shows coming in the future. No matter how you get to us, we’ll give you a big, warm welcome and a night of entertainment you won’t soon forget!
