Wisconsin Public Television's "Hometown Stories" project will be premiering it's Manitowoc-Two Rivers segment Monday July 6 at 8 pm on WPNE Television. There will be community screenings of the segment on Manitowoc and Two Rivers held Wednesday July 1 at 2pm at the Hamilton Community House in Two Rivers and at 7 pm that night here at the Capitol Civic Centre.
This ongoing documentary project tells Wisconsin’s stories, one city at a time.The LaCrosse, Green Bay and Janesville "Hometown Stories" have already aired. These showings are open to the public. The programs are produced through a partnership with the Wisconsin Historical Society and Wisconsin Public TV. Wisconsin Public Television is producing the Wisconsin Hometown Stories series with future plans to profile other state cities. They say each program is a celebration of the evolution of a town, its residents and the stories they have to tell as a mirror of the entire state.
With each program, Teachers can select from an array of online materials related to each of the stories created by local committee 's of educators working in cooperation with the Educational Communications Board including
- an interactive Map and Gallery,
-program clip or the entire program and
-additional resources such as books, manuscripts video and virtual walking tours and web sites related to each community.
